Hong Kong Air Cargo celebrates its 5th Anniversary

Hong Kong Air Cargo (HKC) today celebrates its 5th anniversary of operation in Hong Kong.   In 2017, the airline commenced operation with a fleet of three Airbus A330-200 aircraft, servicing five destinations in the Asia Pacific region.  Today, Hong Kong Air Cargo has a fleet of five and its network now spans over 13 destinations.

At the 5th anniversary ceremony held earlier today at Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong Air Cargo Chairman and President Zhang Youqiang said, “In the past five years, Hong Kong Air Cargo has been operating from our base in Hong Kong connecting mainland China destinations with Hong Kong, South East Asia, Japan and Korea.  We have grown and expanded to meet Hong Kong’s needs, especially through this testing (pandemic) time. We endeavour to expand our network across Eurasia and continue to build Hong Kong as the international transit hub it so rightly deserves.”   In 2021, Hong Kong Air Cargo carried an annual cargo volume of roughly 400,000 tonnes, representing the second highest cargo volume out of Hong Kong International Airport.

Mr. Lam Sai Hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said, “Since its establishment in 2017, Hong Kong Air Cargo has provided air cargo services based in Hong Kong. I would like to thank Hong Kong Air Cargo for its support to Hong Kong’s air cargo industry over the past five years. , especially to help maintain stable air cargo services to and from Hong Kong during the epidemic. Hong Kong’s superior geographical location, unique institutional advantages and rich experience in international business and trade make us well-positioned to become an important international aviation hub, international shipping centre and regional logistics hub. In line with the National 14th Five-Year Plan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan, it also clearly supports Hong Kong in consolidating and strengthening its status as an international aviation hub. I believe that Hong Kong Air Cargo will continue to move forward. Create more glorious moments.”

In 2021, Hong Kong Air Cargo was awarded licenses to operate scheduled cargo flights to nine new routes including Chennai, Tokyo, Manila, Jakarta, Delhi, Sydney, Melbourne, Liege and Milan.  The airline has recently launched scheduled flights between Hong Kong and Narita, Tokyo commencing 9th July 2022.  Hong Kong Air Cargo will continue to review the market situation of launching more scheduled flight services soon.
